Impact/Purpose:
Omics technologies are increasingly being used in a variety of ways and, as such, have shown promise to enhance ecological studies. These molecular tools have the potential to provide needed discriminative ability and context to traditional ecosystem assessment and monitoring methods. Researchers representing three different sectors of the scientific community shared their views as to what experimental challenges currently limit the implementation of these molecular endpoints and/or what solutions are needed to demonstrate the novel and added benefit of these technologies in ecological studies.
