Impact/Purpose:

EPA has embraced FEGS or final ecosystem goods and services as an approach to be used in specifying ecological indicators that matter directly to people and to serve as the linchpin in benefits analysis. This talk outlines an approach to anchoring the specification of metrics and indicators of FEGS using economic theory, ecological understanding and empirical social science research. The result will be the specification of more useful and reliable metrics and indicators and an improved capacity to link changes in ecosystems to changes in human well being.
