Description:
This report was prepared as part of the Ohio River Basin Energy Study (ORBES), a multidisciplinary policy research program supported by the Environmental Protection Agency. Its purpose is to provide baseline information on Pennsylvania, one of the six states included partly or totally in the ORBES region. The topics covered are a historical synopsis of human activities in western Pennsylvania; geology, climatology, and soils; terrestrial ecology; surface hydrology; water quality; aquatic ecology; and socioeconomic characteristics.
