Impact/Purpose:
The focus of this paper is on water flushed from drinking water distribution systems or wash water from outdoor areas after a bioterrorism event. The data produced will help provide the best approach to disinfecting these water sources if contaminated with pathogenic Bacillus spores. Common disinfectants may be the preferred treatment option for biologically contaminated water, but alternative disinfection options need to be studies when the common or preferred method is not feasible or available.
