Impact/Purpose:

Washington State environmental agencies have requested an expert presentation from Dr. James Kaldy of Western Ecology Division on the distribution and spread of the non-native seagrass Zostera japonica along the Pacific Coast of North America. The presentation will cover the introduction of Z. japonica, its current geographic distribution and depth zonation based on the latest scientific literature. This technical assistance will be utilized in developing appropriate management plans for estuarine habitats of Washington State.
