AGRICULTURAL BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICE EFFECTIVENESS DATABASE

Description:

Resource Purpose:The Agricultural Best Management Practice Effectiveness Database contains the results of research projects which have collected water quality data for the purpose of determining the effectiveness of agricultural management practices in reducing pollutants in runoff. The database is searchable by management practice and contaminant. The database is intended to be a resource for the nonpoint source control and TMDL development communities as it can provide them with values for the pollution reductions which can be expected by installing various best management practices (BMPs). As such, it is a tool that the EPA can provide to States, local governments, and watershed management entities to assist them in their struggle to control nonpoint source pollution from agriculture.
Legislation/Enabling Authority:Not applicable.
Supported Program:The database is supported by the Nonpoint Source Control Branch, Assessment and Watershed Protection Division, Office of Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds. The database fills a gap in the knowledge base of the nonpoint source control community. The development of this database will assist the Nonpoint Source Control Branch in filling this Knowledge gap.
