YANG, Y. J. An Introduction to EPA's Water Supply and Water Resources Research and Ways of Collaborations. Presented at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, CHINA, August 19, 2011.

Impact/Purpose:

To inform the public.

Description:

"Drinking water quality at the consumer's tap is the center piece of U.S. drinking water regulations to protect people's health. Recently promulgated Stage II DBP rules are an example, which requires a system approach in a multi-barrier strategy for compliance and risk management. This presentation discusses the current understanding and future research trends on the DBP formation and process controls, particulary in consideration of climate change effects. It also provides a brief introduction to the U.S. drinking water regulations and to the system approach in DBP research and development at EPA's Water Supply and Water Resources Division. Potential areas of collaboration are discussed."
