Impact/Purpose:

To inform the public.

Description:

This presentation will focus on four key points: (a) Aquifer storage and recovery: a long-held practice offering a potential tool for climate change adaptation, (b) The drivers: 1) hydrological perturbations related to climate change, 2) water imbalance in both Qand Vbetween water demand and availability, 3) adequate and uninterrupted water supply development with needed environmental protection, (c) Sustainable ASR practice: triple bottom line –reliability, environmental sustainability, and engineering economics and (d) Major issues under research: LCA and need analysis, metal (arsenic) remobilization; EDC and other organic contaminants; above-ground water conditioning / treatment; advanced monitoring and assessment.
