Description:
The research presented here is the development of an in vitro thyroid gland culture system to test the effect of chemicals directly on the gland without influence of other parts of the HPT axis. . . This information can then be used to select chemicals for further evaluation in vivo if warrented. This model system shows promise as a tool to evaluate the potency of chemicals for inhibiting endpoints of TSH stimulation of the thyroid glands and provides important insights into the in vivo effects of T4 synthesis inhibition on prometamorphic tadpoles.
