Walters, D. M., M. MILLS, K. M. FRITZ, AND D. RAIKOW. Using riparian spiders as sentinels of PCB export and risk at contaminated sediment sites. Presented at SETAC , New Orleans, LA, November 14 - 23, 2009.

Impact/Purpose:

Our objectives were to confirm the trophic mechanism of spider exposure (consumption of contaminated aquatic insects) and to examine the utility of riparian spiders as sentinels of aquatic contamination and exposure risk.

Description:

We investigated aquatic insect utilization and PCB exposure among riparian spiders at Lake Hartwell, a superfund site near Clemson, SC.
