Sustainability is about promoting humanly desirable dynamic regimes of the environment. Metrics: ecological footprint, net regional product, exergy, emergy, and Fisher Information. Adaptive management: (1) metrics assess problem, (2) specific problem identified, and (3) management action taken using specific criteria. Methodology applicable to non-geographical systems such as supply chains using LCA-like data.
