Citation:

LUXTON, T., A. El-Badawy, T. M. TOLAYMAT, AND K. G. SCHECKEL. Characterization Of Environmentally Relevant Chemical And Physical Properties Of Silver Nano-Particles. Presented at Annual Meeting Of The Soil Science Society Of America, Houston, TX, October 05 - 09, 2008.

Impact/Purpose:

To evaluate the surface charge, aggregation potential, chemical state of silver, and the chemical reactivity with organic matter and metal oxides, that are found in soils and sediments.

Description:

Understanding and predicting the fate and transport of nano-materials in the environment requires a detailed characterization of the chemical and physical properties that control fate and transport. In the current study, we have evaluated the surface charge, aggregation potential, chemical state of silver, and chemical reactivity with organic matter and metal oxides typically found in soils and sediments.
