Journal Article
Description:
An extensive investigation was done to understand polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin and furan (PCDD/F) formation mechanisms and their relationship with other organic compounds. PCDD/F, chlorophenols, chlorobenzenes, polyaromatic hydrocarbons and polychlorinated naphthalenes were analyzed in the boiler exist gases of a field-scale municipal solid waste incinerator under various operation conditions. A strong correlaton was observed between polychlorinated naphthalenes and PCDFs. This suggested that polychlorinated naphthalene formation is related with chlorination/dechlorination mechanisms similar to PCDFs.
