Description:

SMARTe (Sustainable Management Approaches and Revitalization Tools-electronic) is a web-based decision support tool being developed by the Office of Research and Development (ORD) in partnership with the Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Revitalization (OBCR), the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) and the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). SMARTe 2007 (released January 2007) currently contains information, links, analysis tools, checklists, and case studies to help users overcome obstacles to site revitalization. It can be found at www.smarte.org and is freely available to the public. SMARTe is intended for all stakeholders with varying levels and types of expertise; however the primary audience is community members who are interested in educating themselves about the revitalization process. Several communities are currently beta testing SMARTe to help us improve its usefulness and user-friendliness. SMARTe 2008 (to be released in October 2007) will have complete decision analysis capability and will allow users to evaluate reuse options for a specific site.
