TOTAL NITROGEN DEPOSITION (WET+DRY) FROM THE ATMOSHERE (FUTURE)

Description:

Oxides of Nitrogen are emitted primarily as by-products of combustion. Sources include power plants, industrial boilers, and automobiles. In addition, agricultural fertilization and concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) also release Amonium into the air. All these compounds react in the atmosphere to form other chemical such as Nitric Acid and Amonium Nitrate. The compounds themselves and their secondarily formed constituents deposit to the surface either in a dry form as gas or particulate or in a wet form along with rain and other forms for precipitation. Deposition of these compounds can cause acidification and/or eutrophication of surface waters. The results of the ReVA analysis will be published in future ReVA publications and journal articles.
