DATA COLLECTION ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF ASTHMA
Impact/Purpose:
Data collection on current rates of awareness of indoor environmental triggers of asthma, rates of public action to reduce exposure to indoor environmental asthma triggers, and identification of barriers to initiating actions to reduce exposure to indoor environmental asthma triggers.
Description:
We are working with CDC to determine if we can add a module to one or more of their surveys which would provide information on awareness of and existing attitudes toward asthma and its environmental triggers, actions implemented and barriers to implementation encountered by adults with asthma and the caregivers of children with asthma.. The generated data may be able to be compared to the results of our initial survey conducted in 2003 to determine movement on national awareness and action related to indoor environmental management of asthma and related issues. This information will help us assess our progress since the 2003 survey and help us refine our messages to the various targeted audiences to achieve maximum impact.
