RESIDUAL RISK ASSESSMENT: HALOGENATED SOLVENTS

Citation:

RESIDUAL RISK ASSESSMENT: HALOGENATED SOLVENTS.

Impact/Purpose:

To assess any health risks resulting from the continued emissions from Halogenated Solvent Degreasing facilities and to determine if control technology standards previously established protect public health with an ample margin of safety and protect the environment.

Description:

This source category previously subjected to a technology-based standard will be examined to determine if health or ecological risks are significant enough to warrant further regulation for Halogenated Solvent Degreasing Facilities. These assessments utilize existing models and databases to examine the multi-media and multi-pollutnat impacts of air toxics emissions on human health and the environment. Details on the assessment process and methodologies can be found in EPA's Residual Risk Report to Congress issued in March, 1999 (see EPA web site http://www.epa.gov/ttn/caaa/t3rc.html). Update: 9/18/2006 - EPA completed the risk assessment and proposed revisions to the Halogenated Solvents Rule on August 17, 2006. See web site for proposed rule http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/degrea/halopg.html Risk assessment only available through the docket
