Impact/Purpose:
to present information
Description:
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Brownfields program helps local governments (city/county) and non-profit organizations appropriately assess, clean up, and reuse contaminated properties that they own or purchase. Reuse and redevelopment of abandoned, idle, or underutilized properties presents challenges and opportunities. In order to assist communities with revitalization of Brownfields properties, KDHE is presenting regional workshops in Leavenworth, Junction City, Great Bend, and Wichita. The workshops focus on identifying financial resources and approaches for overcoming environmental and revitalization obstacles. KDHE invited EPA to present and demonstrate Sustainable Management Approaches and Revitalization Tools - electronic (SMARTe) at the workshops to provide participants with information on our holistic and integrated decision support tool for revitalization and encourage its use.
