PREVENTION GUIDELINES SYSTEM/DATABASE

Description:

The Prevention Guidelines System gives public health practitioners quick access to the most current CDC recommendations and guidelines for the prevention, control, treatment and detection of infectious and chronic diseases, environmental hazards, natural or human-generated disasters, occupational diseases and injuries, intentional and unintentional injuries and disabilities and other public health conditions. This compendium of documents allows public health practitioners and others to quickly access the full set of CDC's guidelines from a single point, regardless of where they were originally published. The Prevention Guidelines System includes either the full text of a document or a link to the Internet site of documents available in portable document format (.pdf) only or, in limited cases, documents published outside CDC. Presently, there are over 400 documents containing up-to-date guidance and 80 documents archived for research or historical purposes maintained in the system. Over two-thirds of these documents were originally published in CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The rest are monographs, brochures, Web-based fact sheets, and other materials published by CDC or the U.S. Public Health Service, or articles by CDC authors in peer-reviewed journals.
