CURRENT STATUS OF THE EPA PROTOCOL GAS PROGRAM

Citation:

WRIGHT, R. S. CURRENT STATUS OF THE EPA PROTOCOL GAS PROGRAM. Presented at EPRI Continuous Emission Monitoring User Group Meeting, Savannah, GA, May 02 - 06, 2005.

Impact/Purpose:

To inform the public.

Description:

Accurate compressed gas calibration standards are needed to calibrate continuous emission monitors (CEMs) and ambient air quality monitors that are being used for regulatory purposes. EPA has published a protocol to establish the traceability of these standards to national reference standards. After a five-year hiatus, EPA is revitalizing the program by restarting assessments, revising its monitoring regulations, and revising the protocol. This paper describes the program, summarizes past assessments, and reports on the current status of the program.
