USING STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING TO INVESTIGATE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG ECOLOGICAL VARIABLES
Description:
This paper gives an introductory account of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and demonstrates its application using LISREL< with a model utilizing environmental data. Using nine EMAP data variables, we analyzed their correlation matrix with an SEM model. The model characterized the interdependencies among four unmeasured latent variables: Contaminants, Natural Variability, Biodiversity, and Growth Potential. The paper utilizes the model primarily to introduce the main issues of structural equation modeling.
