Impact/Purpose:

To establish a quantitative linkage between PCB concentrations in nestling tree swallows and the insects they consume

Description:

Together, these two papers establish a quantitative linkage between PCB concentrations in nestling tree swallows and in the insects that they consume. As such, these papers provide strong support for the use of nestling swallows as a biomonitoring species for exposure assessment of hydrophobic organic chemicals contained in aquatic sediments.
