AGGREGATIONS OF LEVEL III ECOREGIONS FOR NATIONAL NUTRIENT ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT

Description:

Aggregations of level III Ecoregions for the National Nutrient Assessment and Management Strategy: This map of draft aggregation of level III ecoregions of the conterminous United States defines broad areas within which there are general similarities in the quality and types of ecosystems as well as natural and anthropogenic characteristics regarding nutrients. Variability in ecosystems, nutrient issues and the associations between them is also generally similar within each of these regions. As such, these regions are intended to provide a spatial framework for general guidance and reporting for the national nutrient strategy. In general, the variability in nutrient concentrations in streams, lakes, and soils will be less in level III ecological regions, and even less in Level IV ecoregions, and even less in smaller lake, soils, and/or physiographic regions.
