Anon. ETV TEST REPORT OF MOBILE SOURCE EMISSIONS CONTROL DEVICES: LUBRIZOL ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEMS PURIFILTER SC17L. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/600/R-04/146, 2004.

Description:

The Environmental Technology Verification report discusses the technology and performance of the Lubrizol Engine Control Systems Purifilter SC17L manufactured by Lubrizol Engine Control Systems. The technology is a precious and base metal, passively regenerated particulate filter for mobile diesel engines fueled by ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel. The test was the Highway Transient Federal Test Procedure, heavy duty cycle, on both a 7.3 L, 244 bhp Navistar International Corporation diesel engine and an 8.5 L, 275 bhp Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) engine. The mean emissions reductions in particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide were 95% (including the combined effect of the control technology and change in fuel sulfur level from low sulfur to ULSD fuel), 0%, 88%, and 71%, respectively, relative to baseline emissions for the aged Navistar engine and were 91% (including the combined effect of the control technology and change in fuel sulfur level from low sulfur to ULSD fuel), 0%, 100%, and 79%, respectively, relative to baseline emissions for the aged DDC engine.
