Life Cycle Impact Assessment Details Explained
Impact/Purpose:
This presentation is being given to a course on Environmental Product Life Cycle Assessment within the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. The presentation will present many of the complex details about LCIA and about specific models for individual impact categories.
Description:
LCA can be a very useful tool in looking comprehensively at different impacts, different media, and at the various stages along the life cycle of a product or service. It is a developing field. Still need research especially in those areas that require site-specificity (e.g., land and water use). The incorporation of value choices and assumptions should be made transparent whenever possible. Communication of LCIA results including uncertainty can be very difficult.
