Impact/Purpose:
To present to EPA Regions and State Agency stormwater staff on how the National Stormwater Calculator may be used in tandem with OW's Green LTCP-EZ tool to assist CSO communities with meeting their long term control plan goals and expected outcomes.
Description:
93% of CSO Permittees have enforceable long-term CSO control plan in place as of today. Most of them are implementing and few have finished the implementation of their CSO control plans. We are seeing challenges for both cases as follow. 1. Finished implementation of their long-term CSO control plans – Need to adjust their implemented plan to meet the CWA and CSO Policy expectations 2. In the middle of implementing their long-term CSO control plans – May need adjustment to meet the end goals 3. Considering Green Infrastructure for their long-term CSO control plans Back in 2011 U.S. EPA developed a modeling tool called “Green LTCP-EZ” for small CSO communities, which can also be used for any size CSO communities for preliminary assessment. The limitation of this tool is not quantifying the various Green Infrastructure (GI) practices. EPA’s National SW Modeling tool is capable of quantifying the various GI practices. Combining this two tools may help the permittees as mention above.
