Description:
This paper summarizes the key points of a joint study between the EPA and Metrohm-Peak, Inc., on the use of polyvinyl alcohol [PVA] columns for the ion chromatographic determination of percholorate in aqueous leachates or solutions of fertilizers. A series of fertilizer samples previously used in a survey for perchlorate and described in EPA/600/R-01/049 were spiked and subjected to a similar analytical procedure. Results showed that the PVA columns were capable of meeting the EPA's requirements for performance in this analysis and were consistent with those results given in EPA/600/R-01/049. A more detailed account of the research was published previously [Journal of Environmental Monitoring 2002,4 (1), 149-155]. This abbreviated version was prepared at the request of American Laboratory. [Contact for copy of paper (there is a fee): Sandy Galla - email = sandy_galla@iscpubs.com; phone = 203-926-9300.]
