Description:
A series of seven technical presentations involving chemical oxidation will be given to faculty, graduate students, and environmental professionals at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China (April 21-22, 2010). Chemical oxidation technologies include in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) and the chemical oxidation regeneration of granular activated carbon. Information regarding the chemical oxidation regeneration of activated carbon includes process optimization, the role of various chemical and physical parameters, and lab and pilot-study results. Information presented regarding ISCO includes process fundamentals, oxidation mechanisms, strengths and limitations, impact on natural attenuation, hydrogeologic factors, mass transfer, rebound, oxidant selection, bench- and pilot-scale studies, guidelines for field-scale deployment, monitoring parameters and systems, performance evaluation, binary mixtures, case studies, design and implementation considerations, strategy, delivery, and health and safety.
