Session 9: Opportunities for advancing SEEA accounts?
Citation:
Russell, M. Session 9: Opportunities for advancing SEEA accounts? 2019 Forum of Experts on SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting, Glen Cove, NY, June 26 - 27, 2019.
Impact/Purpose:
Present recent work on ecosystem accounting from the "Accounting for US Ecosystem Services at National and Subnational Scales" working group to the international meeting participants
Description:
Brief summary describing recent work and achievements from 2018 and 2019 including: Completion of regional (ten state area) analysis for several example condition, supply and use tables, an example from Atlanta, Georgia USA where we also show how ecosystem accounts can be considered alongside other SEEA accounts, such as land and water accounts and the process by which we determined where to place metrics within the accounting framework, which was strongly informed by the National Ecosystem Services Classification System (NESCS). These achievements can help provide practical guidance for future ecosystem accounts in the U.S. and other countries, and for expanding the scope of U.S. ecosystem accounts
