Facilitating the valuation of aquatic ecosystem services: tool integration and multimetric indicators of water quality. Impact/Purpose:

The development of an integrated assessment approach for valuing water quality impacts and aquatic ecosystem services reduces data needs and simplifies analyses at a variety of scales.

Description:

The EPA is developing an integrated assessment approach that combines water quality modeling with valuation, to be widely available. In the valuation model, we consider replacing our single water quality index with two, one for human-based recreation and one for aquatic health, and apply to a hypothetical land-use scenario.
