US EPA, Temperature, Salinity, Depth data set from Snohomish Delta, Puget Sound, WA

Citation:

Pacella, S. US EPA, Temperature, Salinity, Depth data set from Snohomish Delta, Puget Sound, WA. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, 2018.

Impact/Purpose:

The dataset is being provided to the Tulalip Tribes, a partner on the WED/Region 10 RARE project "Toward a unified understanding of coastal acidification processes in Puget Sound". This project focused on the role of local drivers in controlling the dynamics of carbonate chemistry and associated coastal acidification in a nearshore estuarine environment. The dataset is a time series of temperature, salinity, and depth from a seagrass bed of interest to the Tulalip Tribes.

Description:

The data set, including temperature, salinity and depth from the TULALIP station, runs from 28 July 2015 to 14 April 2016. On the first sheet of the Excel workbook is a “READ ME” sheet which include sonde model, deployment depth (sonde height off the bottom), individual deployment file naming format, sonde deployment location in Northings and Eastings (Zone 10, North), and comments related to specific deployment file issues, if applicable. The sonde was attached to the bottom in a vertical orientation, with the sensors on the sonde approximately 30cm off the bottom. Salinity/specific conductance calibration for all field and QA instruments is done using a single point calibration at 10 mS/cm. Depth calibration for field and QA data sondes is done using a single point calibration based on local barometric pressure. Temperature probes are non-adjustable but are checked against a bi-annually factory calibrated temperature meter pre- and post-deployment.
