SMITH, L. M. AND J. K. SUMMERS. Evaluating Qualitative Linkages Between Ecosystem Services and Human well-being: Knowledge, Speculation and Perception . Presented at Solutions for Sustaining Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services: International Conference and Workshop, SALZAU, GERMANY, June 07 - 11, 2010.

Impact/Purpose:

To present a conceptual framework linking ecosystem services to descriptive domains of well-being using relative importance values (RIVs). The ecosystem services module represents one component of the larger conceptual framework. In addition to ecosystem services, the model will be expanded to include the relationships between human well-being and macroeconomic drivers, social programs and political climate. The framework will serve as a foundation for developing a US Index of Well-being (IWB) for decision support and environmental accountability for the Ecosystem Services Research Program.
