Arctic Climate Change: A Tale of Two Cod Species
Citation:
Reusser, D., M. Frazier, R. Loiselle, AND H. Lee. Arctic Climate Change: A Tale of Two Cod Species. U.S. Geological Society (USGS), Reston, VA, 2013.
Impact/Purpose:
Polar Cod play an important role in the Arctic trophic hierarchy as the consumer of primary productivity and a food source for many marine fish and mammals. Shifts in their distribution and abundance could have cascading affects in the marine environment. This paper investigates how changing temperatures will affect the distribution and abundance of polar and saffron cod in the Eastern Bering Sea to gain insight into how their distribution and abundance may be affected in the Arctic.
