Impact/Purpose:
To document research results.
Description:
This manuscript is targeted to a specialized audience: ornithologists who work specifically on raptors (hawks and owls). The goal of the paper is to describe the last 38 years of banding at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory and to put out some preliminary results on species’ annual dynamics based on that time-series. As such it is primarily a summary paper. It is an invited contribution to a special issue of the Journal of Raptor Research that will be devoted to North American raptor banding stations. It will be a follow-up to the presentation of the same title given at the recent (October 2010) meeting of the Raptor Research Foundation in Fort Collins, CO.
