ERD Research on Nutrient and Pathogen Dynamics
Citation:
STEVENS, C. T. AND R. G. ZEPP. ERD Research on Nutrient and Pathogen Dynamics. Presented at EPA/USGS Mercury in Streams Ecosystems Meeting, Athens, GA, March 17 - 19, 2009.
Impact/Purpose:
The research involves investigations of biogeochemical indicators of condition and function in headwater streams and elucidation and modeling of nitrogen cycling and transport in surface and groundwaters of agricultural ecosystems. Other research is determining critical processes that govern the fate and transport of pathogens and/or fecal indicators derived from agricultural activities and wastewaters and developing models that can be used to evaluate exposure to pathogens in recreational waters and in drinking water supplies.
Description:
Slide presentation giving an overview on the ERD research on nutrient and pathogen dynamics. Focus is on characterizing the dynamics of pathogen and nutrient stressors in the environment to support water quality objectives.
