JUDSON, R. Current Developments in Computational Toxicology: Prioritizing Chemicals for Endocrine Testing. Presented at Personal Care Products Council's 8th Annual Safety Seminar (2012 Cosmetic Science Symposium & Expo), Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott, Newark, NJ, October 03 - 04, 2012.
Impact/Purpose:
Too many chemicals to test with standard animal-based methods - Cost, time, animal welfare; Need for better mechanistic data;- Determine human relevance; - What is the Mode of Action (MOA) or Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP)?: ToxCast / Tox21 Goals: Identify molecular targets or biological pathways linked to toxicity. Goal: use multiple streams of data to prioritize many data-poor chemicals; Combine: In vitro data, In vivo data, Exposure, Use; Bring data together in a transparent decision-making framework.
