Citation:
U.S. EPA. ORD Human Health Toxicity Value Assessment for 6:2 Fluorotelomer Sulfonic Acid (CASRN 27619-97-2│DTXSID6067331). U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/600/R-24/315, 2024.
Impact/Purpose:
EPA’s HERA program has posted the final ORD Human Health Toxicity Value Assessment for 6:2 Fluorotelomer Sulfonic Acid (6:2 FTS). This assessment provides qualitative and quantitative toxicity information that can be used, along with exposure information and other important considerations, to assess potential health risks to determine if, and when, taking action to address this chemical is appropriate.
Description:
6:2 Fluorotelomer Sulfonic Acid (CASRN 27619-97-2; DTXSID6067331) and its related salts are members of the group of per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This assessment is a written summary of the potential health effects associated with exposure to 6:2 FTS (hazard identification) and identifies the exposure levels (dose-response assessment) at which those health effects may occur. This ORD toxicity assessment focuses on chemical hazard identification and dose-response analyses that can be used along with exposure information and other risk management considerations to assess potential risks of 6:2 FTS to human health.
