Impact/Purpose:

EPA ORD is working together with Crisfield to explore natural infrastructure options that can help increase coastal climate resilience.  This presentation will help grow community knowledge about living shorelines, how they work, what it takes to create, fund, and successfully implement this strategy for erosion reduction, flood impact mitigation, and protecting against property damage.  They will be able to interactively ask questions of two experts to help grow their coastal community resilience capacity.

Description:

These slides introduce EPA ORD's Living Shorelines public education session for the community of Crisfield, MD, as part of co-development of research on nature-based strategies for coastal resilience. The goal is to help build knowledge capacity around living shoreline functionality and implementation, and these introductory slides will set up presentations delivered by a coastal engineer from TetraTech and waterfront and resource planning section chief from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Chesapeake & Coastal Service.
