Impact/Purpose:
The Adaptation Organon (AO) for Resilient Natural Resources is a web-based interactive framework and information resource for integrating climate change and other environmental information into project and program planning. It is being used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for capacity-building in EPA regions to support state and tribal partners with their resilience-based planning for climate-smart natural resource management. This presentation will share the preliminary results of AO-based collaborations that are (1) assisting state and tribal applicants with integrating climate and environmental justice considerations into proposals for EPA Wetland Program Development Grants; and (2) providing a historically-underserved, frontline coastal community in Maryland with integrated scientific information on site-specific climate vulnerabilities and green infrastructure options, to help the community make informed decisions on how to adapt to accelerating sea level rise and flooding events. Lessons learned from these and other AO case studies will be discussed for audience feedback on ways to further strengthen current and future stakeholder-centered collaborations toward equitable and positive outcomes for resilient natural resources.
