Impact/Purpose:

This hands-on session will introduce EnviroAtlas as a tool to help participants build location-specific demographic maps, which can help EE centers answer important questions about their programming, such as “who lives in our communities?” and “what is the surrounding environment like?” Participants will leave with data and maps to justify which groups they’re designing programs for and why.

Description:

It is essential for EE centers to cultivate programming that is inviting to all community members. US EPA’s EnviroAtlas can help EE centers easily find insight about their communities with both population and environmental data to answer important questions that make programs more meaningful to communities, such as “who lives in our communities?” and “what is the surrounding environment like?” This hands-on session will introduce EnviroAtlas as a tool to help participants build location-specific demographic maps. Participants will leave the session with data and maps to justify which groups they’re designing programs for and why, helping EE centers to deliver relevant and locally-based EE programs. This abstract has been reviewed and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
