Description:

The presentation highlights the collaboration between ORD and OLEM in the development, release, and evaluation of Integrated Exposure Uptake Biokinetic (IEUBK) model version 2.0. The audience is introduced to the multiple media by which lead exposures occur, biomarkers of lead in the body, and biokinetic modeling for lead. The IEUBK model itself is introduced along with its long history of use within the EPA. The presentation then proceeds to describe Technical Review Workgroup (TRW) for Lead role in reviewing the available literature to update the exposure parameters in the model to reflect the latest scientific information. A description all model updates to for IEUBK version 2.0 release are covered as well as ORD’s evaluation of the model. The presentation provides weblinks to publicly available sources for the new software, model evaluation, and updated materials and information, which are housed on EPA websites. The presentation concludes with acknowledgements of the roles of both the TRW for Lead committee and contractors in supporting the model development, maintenance, and evaluation.
