Impact/Purpose:

This presentation provides an introduction to the Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment (CPHEA) and a short description of CPHEA's main efforts in drinking water, wastewater and water reuse, and stormwater research within the Safe and Sustainable Water Resources Research Program.

Description:

The mission of the Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment (CPHEA) is to provide the science needed to understand the complex interrelationship between people and nature in support of assessments and policy to protect human health and ecological integrity.  CPHEA in involved in several areas of the Safe and Sustainable Water Resources Reserach Program, Within the Water Treatment and Infrastructure area, CPHEA leads research related to Innovative approaches for evaluating exposure to and toxicity from chemical mixtures in drinking water, dffects-based methods for assessing chemical contaminants in wastewater/reclaimed water, and recommendations for planning and managing stormwater.
