Impact/Purpose:

EPA scientists have collectively contributed to the recovery and management of the Puget Sound in myriad ways. The Puget Sound Federal Task Force Science Workgroup brings together other Federal and DOD agencies also working in the Puget Sound in order to communicate related efforts and identify potential for collaboration and resource leverage toward united goals. The workgroup is an ad hoc group of Federal scientists chaired by Region 10’s Bill Labiosa. This invited presentation is one of a series of presentations by the respective agencies and will be attended by agency representatives and center directors.

Description:

This multi-disciplinary briefing will be presented to the Puget Sound Federal Task Force Science Workgroup on ORD/PESD to describe efforts by PESD scientists in supported of Puget Sound science and recovery. This briefing will include basics on sources of PESD works, national program objectives, and specific projects of PESD scientists. These projects include studies in ocean acidification, green infrastructure and stormwater modelling with VELMA, nutrient management, wildfire monitoring and the National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS). The goal is to better consolidate the efforts of federal agencies toward management and recovery of Puget Sound including the Vital Signs indicators put forth by the Puget Sound Partnership.
