Phosphate-Based Chemical Usage Trends in the U.S.: Data Mining the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) Database

Citation:

Pinelli, M., D. Lytle, A. Porter, AND P. Jordan. Phosphate-Based Chemical Usage Trends in the U.S.: Data Mining the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) Database. Presented at 2023 Water Quality Technology Conference, Dallas, TX, November 06 - 09, 2023.

Impact/Purpose:

The Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS/FED) contains data about nearly 50,000 community water systems (CWSs) and represents a wealth of information regarding corrosion control practices. This presentation illustrates trends in phosphate use by CWSs based on data contained within SWWIS/FED. Type of phosphate, CWS size, CWS location, source water type, and other factors are shown. Attendees at the 2023 Water Quality Technology Conference will be able to see general trends in phosphate use to gain an understanding of the typical treatments performed at different types of CWSs and what factors influence a system's likelihood of using different types of phosphate.

Description:

This presentation will be shown at the 2023 Water Quality Technology Conference (WQTC). It provides insight into data trends regarding phosphate usage in the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS).
