Impact/Purpose:
This presentation is for a table top exercise of stormwater modeling after a dirty bomb explosion. It is a closed meeting including Federal, State, and local stormwater regulators, modelers, and emergency responders.
Description:
These slides are for the U.S. EPA’s Homeland Security Research Program 1-day virtual radiological stormwater modeling workshop. The workshop is sponsored by the DHS’s National Urban Security Technology Laboratory and co-organized with the DOE’s Argonne National Laboratory. During the workshop, invitees will participate in a notional table-top scenario of a dirty bomb explosion in eastern North Carolina. The workshop organizers will provide stormwater modeling results for the hypothetical scenario, and breakout room sessions will be moderated with guided questions to discuss how these results may (or may not) be used during sampling and remediation activities. The goal of the workshop is to present radiologically focused modeling outputs and generate discussions about their interpretation and potential application within a diverse set of stormwater practitioners (local, state, and federal).
