Development and Application of the Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework for Materials Containing Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). Presented at ECOS, NA - will be virtual, NC, August 29, 2022.

Impact/Purpose:

To provide overview of how the Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF) is being modified for evaluating leaching of per- and polyfluroralkyl substances (PFAS) from materials such as biosolids and other wastes containing PFAS that are more likely to partition to ground- and surface- waterbodies

Description:

Evaluating PFAS mobility under a range of environmental conditions that can change overtime is important to predict in evaluating environmental release that can impact human health and the environment.  The presentation is providing an overview of the challenges and what is being done to address them so that we can more accurately predict the fate of PFAS constituents of potential concern (COPCs) for how waste or materials are managed such as biosolids and other waste materials.
