To provide an overview of wastewater surveillance and recent work relating to SARS-CoV-2 at wastewater treatment plants and in municipal wastewater collection systems.
Description:
The SARS CoV-2 pandemic shone a bright light on wastewater surveillance and the potential value of municipal wastewater as a public health sentinel. This presentation will provide a brief history of wastewater surveillance and a summary of the factors and procedures behind the generation of SARS CoV-2 data. Results from recent SARS CoV-2 surveillance conducted as part of the Ohio Coronavirus Wastewater Monitoring Network will also be presented. Examples of other wastewater surveillance programs will be discussed and the general components and aspects of a wastewater surveillance plan will be presented.
