Evaluation of Environmental Fentanyl Contamination and Sampling Effects for Remediating Affected Areas
Citation:
Willison, S. Evaluation of Environmental Fentanyl Contamination and Sampling Effects for Remediating Affected Areas. Presented at 2019 EPA International Decontamination Conference, Norfolk, VA, November 18 - 21, 2019.
Impact/Purpose:
Presentation will be used to discuss fentanyl research related to sampling and analysis method development and inform decisions related to recovery of fentanyl analogs from surfaces that may affect remediation efforts.
Description:
Fentanyl contamination is widespread from illegal production and usage in urban settings, like houses, apartments, buildings, and cars. After contamination occurs, the affected areas will need to be remediated so that they can be returned to service within the communities. The preliminary research related to surface sampling and method development will be discussed during the presentation and detail how environmental conditions may affect recovery results.
