Arsenic Refresher

Citation:

Triantafyllidou, S. AND D. Lytle. Arsenic Refresher. 20th Annual EPA Drinking Water Workshop: Small System Challenges and Solutions, Covington, KY, September 11 - 14, 2023.

Impact/Purpose:

The US EPA’s arsenic demonstration program evaluated arsenic removal technologies at 50 small drinking water systems across the US in 2004-2010. This presentation provides an overview of arsenic treatment options based on that experience. It also offers a retrospective data analysis of arsenic levels at the tap, after arsenic treatment of the source well water. The analysis identified 3 patterns of arsenic release at the tap, advancing our understanding of arsenic accumulation and release in drinking water distribution systems.
