Garcia Rosado, K., K. Fritz, AND S. Olivero Lora. U.S. Caribbean Streamflow Duration Assessment Method Workshop. U.S. Caribbean Streamflow Duration Assessment Method Workshop, Guaynabo, PR, PUERTO RICO, April 24, 2024.

Impact/Purpose:

The workshop is an opportunity for regional experts and stakeholders to meet with research team to discuss literature review findings, share information overlooked by the literature review, and provide guidance so that the resulting SDAM meets the needs of regional stakeholders.

Description:

Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods (SDAMs) are single-visit, field assessment methods for accurately predicting flow duration classes (i.e., ephemeral, intermittent, and perennial) that help implement federal, state, and local water resources programs. The aim of this project is to provide baseline information to support the development of an SDAM for the U.S. Caribbean SDAM, where one has not been previously developed. The key foundational elements for developing an accurate SDAM include identifying a regional framework to guide study reach selection, compilation of study reaches with existing hydrologic information, and identification of candidate indicators (i.e., measurements that represent causes or responses to stream drying).
